Job Description:
Reporting to a senior manager, this permanent position offers an opportunity for the successful candidate to manage a team of people in the Financial Reporting department of the leading fund administrator.
At this level you will be required to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of relevant work processes alongside a broad understanding of related and interfacing activities to provide effective management of Financial Reporting.
You will be expected to work closely with your manager to plan and deliver projects assigned and perform day to day tasks pertinent to the departments activity. A major focus will be on department strategy, procedural, staff, process-improvement and general management issues together with liaison with the Donor Site.
The implementation of change will be a major part of the role, in addition you will be responsible for achievement of delegated financial/performance targets, including local cost control.
Principal Tasks
Lead, direct and manage the department in collaboration with your manager and senior colleagues.
Manage the operations of the core financial reporting teams assigned to you within the department.
Propose and/or implement procedural changes to improve performance of the department.
Initiate and oversee tasks within the continuous improvement drive to ensure that the department is efficient and seen as customer and quality driven.
Maintain and develop expertise and provide advice to our clients, demonstrating sound judgment and an understanding of the business.
Train, coach, evaluate staff that directly report to you, set clear development goals for your staff to ensure they are developed and managed.
Create an environment that is flexible/adaptable/able to change and be a champion of change. Initiate and successfully implement dept. performance targets and objectives, both operational and project based.
Provide a high class financial reporting service to the Donor Site.
Observe, inspect and evaluate the performance of assigned and non-assigned staff in the department.
Involvement in recruitment and selection of new staff.
Delegate tasks to your staff as part of staff development and allow your take on other tasks appropriate to your level and progression.
Be able to deputize for your manager as required from time to time.
Take on ad hoc project work as required from senior management.
Qualifications:
A person with relevant financial education in the field of economics, finance, accounting or similar ideally with accounting qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CPA) and will have 5-8 years manager experience in a similar environment.
Industry Knowledge
Comprehensive procedural, technical and product knowledge of Financial Reporting, complemented with a detailed understanding of Fund Administration, Custody and Legal /Regulatory background
Core Competencies
Experience in managing a number teams / people
PC literate with very good knowledge of Microsoft Office
Up to date on all technical issues relating to format, presentation and content of interim and annual reports
Ability to multitask and work in a pressurized environment.
Knowledge of accounting frameworks including Irish GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP and UK SORP.
Experience in managing audit of company / trust accounts in a team environment
Have an enquiring mind and a willingness to investigate and solve problems
Be able to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
Ability to delegate work to others
Experience of working to deadlines, must be able to manage time effectively
