Job Description
Purpose Of Role:
To prepare and review all components of interim and final accounts and associated monthly reconciliation packs for a variety of funds. To organize and coordinate work of Financial Reporting Accountants in all the aspects of a Financial Statements preparation process.
Specific Duties:
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Prepare and review high quality sets of reconciliations and reporting packs to be used in financial statements (including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Schedule of Investments, Notes to Financial Statements) for annual and interim reporting cycles.
Prepare and review audit documentation. Act as an immediate point of contact to internal clients on specialized audits or reviews if necessary. Provide assistance and support during financial statements audits and internal control reviews.
Maintain a strong financial control infrastructure by preparing and reviewing comprehensive Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss reconciliations on a monthly basis. Liaise with other departments to address and resolve all the issues identified within a trial balance.
Ensure effective logging and resolution of enquiries and liaise with appropriate parties to resolve / escalate queries and problems within agreed deadlines.
Work to tight deadlines in order to finalize client deliverables
Provide coverage during absence of a line manager on BAU matters.
Comply with accounting policies/procedures and internal control documentation.
Understand the core processes and areas of risk within the business area and work with a management team to mitigate them.
Perform other ad hoc tasks delegated by a supervisor
Constantly improve knowledge and skills in the area of accounting, financial reporting and investment funds sector.
Participate in projects impacting the wider group where possible.
NON - TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
COMMUNICATION
Communicate review points identified in the working papers to the Financial Reporting Accountants and ensure those are corrected accurately.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal clients and colleagues.
Ensure consistency across the deliverables by maintaining constant contact with other Senior Financial Reporting Accountants.
Ensure all the knowledge and process gaps are communicated to the team supervisor and suggest process improvements.
Ensure the line manager and others, as appropriate, are kept aware of all issues/problems/queries/work in progress that may impact the quality of service being provided.
ORGANISATION
Take responsibility for work allocation and its execution by coordinating the daily work of Financial Reporting Accountants.
Ensure smooth completion of both preliminary work and Financial Statement preparation process by maintaining constant contact with oversight teams and relevant fund groups in order to address and resolve all the identified issues.
Appropriate housekeeping duties e.g. filing, archiving, operation of clean desk policy.
TRAINING AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Work with a Team Supervisor to identify objectives at the start of each year and keep them up to date.
Train, coach and develop junior staff in the department
Actively participate in the appraisal process by completing a self-evaluation and suggesting appropriate development.
Take part in the process enhancing projects and take-up additional assignments where possible.
Take responsibility for personal development and training.
Qualifications:
Specific Qualifications / Skills:
Numeracy / Literacy skills.
Excellent English.
Accuracy and ability to work to tight deadlines.
PC literate and competent in use of spreadsheets and word processing.
Have a thorough understanding of basic accounting principles

Level Of Education:
Accountancy or Business related degree (preferred)
Previous Level Of Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience working in a financial reporting environment or 2 years funds experience.
